Smart Print ASA 1kg 1.75 mm

ASA filament for functional and weather-resistant 3D printed parts

MaterialASA
Diameter 1.75 mm
Weight1 kg
SurfaceStandard

Product Description

Smart Print ASA is a 1.75mm filament for FDM/FFF 3D printers and is suitable for stable, dimensionally stable and more weather-resistant components. ASA is particularly interesting for housings, mounts, technical functional parts and applications where UV and weather resistance are required.

Compared to many standard PLA filaments, ASA requires higher printing temperatures and a print chamber that is as stable and warm as possible. An enclosed print chamber can help to reduce warping and improve dimensional accuracy for larger components.

For good printing results, the filament should be stored dry and, if necessary, dried in a suitable filament dryer or drying device before printing. For large or long components, brim, raft and an adjusted bed temperature can improve adhesion.

Technical data

Brand: Smart Print
Product line: ASA
Material: ASA
Diameter: 1.75 mm
Weight: 1 kg
Printing temperature: 235 °C - 260 °C
Bed temperature: 80 °C - 100 °C
Print speed: 40 - 80 mm/s
Fan: 0 % - 30 %
Drying settings: 70 °C for 6h
Other properties:
  • An enclosed or warm print chamber can help to reduce warping.
  • For larger parts, a brim or raft can improve adhesion to the print bed.
  • Store dry; low humidity can improve surface quality and print stability.
  • For long or slender parts, a higher bed temperature and, if necessary, covering the print chamber can help.

Note

Depending on the screen display and batch, the color reproduction may vary slightly. Printing values are guidelines and may need to be adjusted depending on the printer, nozzle, component and filament condition.

Frequently Asked Questions about ASA Filament

What is ASA filament best used for?

ASA is often used for outdoor parts, technical components, housings and prints that require good UV resistance, weather resistance and heat resistance.

Is ASA suitable for outdoor use?

Yes. ASA is a strong choice for outdoor applications because it offers better UV and weather resistance than many standard filaments.

Does ASA need an enclosed printer?

An enclosed build chamber is strongly recommended. ASA can warp if the print cools too quickly or if the ambient temperature is not stable.

Is ASA better than ABS?

ASA and ABS are both technical materials, but ASA offers better UV and weather resistance. For outdoor parts, ASA is often the better choice.

Is ASA beginner-friendly?

ASA is more demanding than PLA or PETG. It usually requires higher printing temperatures, good bed adhesion and a controlled printing environment.

How should ASA filament be stored?

ASA should be stored dry and protected from moisture. Dry filament improves surface quality, layer adhesion and dimensional consistency.
